September 12, 2017

Dear All-South Participants,

As you are aware, Hurricane Irma made a very untimely visit to Florida and several of the surrounding Southern states.  While we were very fortunate that the forecast for a direct hit to the Tampa Bay area did not come to fruition, the infrastructure of the state has been adversely affected.   Millions of residents are without power, schools and businesses remain closed, gas lines are long in the stations that have power, and air travel has been impacted.   Several of the NACM Tampa staff evacuated out of state and have not been able to return.  The majority of the others remain without power.  With each day there will be progress; however, the uncertainty still looms.

Due to the concern and safety for each of the All-South participants, the 2017 All-South Credit Conference has been postponed.  We will be working with the hotel during the next few days to obtain possible dates for the rescheduled conference.

The Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort was placed under mandatory evacuation on Friday morning at 6:00 AM.  The hotel staff remained in contact with us throughout the storm, but were unable to return to the property until today.  Fortunately, the hotel itself sustained relatively minor damage, and will be open for business tomorrow.  They will welcome you if you want to spend the weekend on the beach, in the Tiki Bar or in the Spotted Donkey, as opposed to your dark, powerless house!  If you are going to cancel, please do so as quickly as possible, as they have many people seeking rooms for cool refuge.  All attendees are responsible for cancelling their own hotel reservation.  You may call 800-753-3954 or the hotel directly 727-461-3222 to cancel your reservation.  There will be no cancellation penalty.

Most of the airlines are also waiving the cancellation penalty for cancelled flights.

Conference fees can be applied to the rescheduled event, or refunds can be requested following the announcement of the rescheduled date.  We ask for your patience as we work with the hotel to obtain a suitable date in 2018.  There are many logistical items to be addressed, and it’s going to take time to align all the moving parts.

We thank our counterparts at NACM Gulf States, the originally scheduled host for 2018, who has graciously agreed to step back a year and allow our team to complete the event on which they have worked so hard for the past year.

Thank you to our attendees, partners, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors for their support.  We are looking forward to the rescheduled hurricane-free All-South!

Sincerely,

NACM Tampa
